Sweet Stuff

“You are what you eat so eat something sweet!” – Anon.

Over on Weekly Prompts, the site I share with my partner GC, our Weekend Challenge is Dessert.

Given the choice of a cheese board or a dessert trolley, my first choice has often been cheese, though I am very fond of ice cream, oh, and homemade trifle too.

For this challenge my response today is a Mouth Watering family affair!

  1. ‘Cheese Counter’ – now you are talking. I am definitely savoury over sweet – however that is not to say that baking , making, and eating desserts takes a back seat. Early morning, and your mouthwateringly good photos have me thinking of cake already. Cake for breakfast – no one will know.

  2. Oh wow Sue….. the sight of all these delicious sweets has got my mouth watering…. whoops, straight to the fridge for some chocolate…..ahhh…that’s betterer……. I’m writing a poem at the moment…. not sure if it’s quite in line with your prompt…. I suppose there’s sweetness in the fact that my attack, was only a minor incident….xx

  3. Oh my, there are a lot of lovely, tempting cakes there, Sue. Coffee cake, I haven’t had that in years. My grandson’s first spoken word was “…cake!” I must admit, I’m partial to the cheese board. 😊

    1. I always think of myself as having more of a savoury tooth but seeing the cakes again has me hankering after making a fresh cream fruit sponge cake. Thank you, Derrick

  4. Oh, my! OH, my! OH, MY! 😀
Not just sweet…sweet masterpieces/works of art!!! 🙂 And they look like they were made with love! ❤
    Ha! What a cute smiley-face cake! 🙂
I like desserts that are spicy…like ginger cake or carrot cake or pumpkin bread. And I like desserts that are filled with fruit.
Sue…You are sweeter than a ginormous bakery full of desserts! 🙂

    1. I put on the smiley face for the little ones – a bit lopsided though! Joss’s ginger cake is absolutely gorgeous, he always makes a super job of his baking. Victoria ought to have been a professional chef everything she makes is superb.

Thank you so much, Carolyn, hope you still feeling better. 🙂❤️

    1. It’s fortunate these cakes were spread out over the year otherwise we would all weigh a lot more. Joss tells me he’s put on a stone during lockdown!
Before lockdown, if he ever put on a couple of pounds he used to blame me for overfeeding him. I can’t be blamed this time he hasn’t been here!

He’s gone to the supermarket for my shopping and I found it very hard not to add a couple of cartons of fresh cream to the list! It’s the absolutely gorgeous Chinese cake that does it for me. 🙂

Good grief, I’m chucking out the Cheerios and digging into sugar cookies! Homemade treats here too, unless it’s from one particular elite bakery whose goodies are to die for. So are their prices…..but you get what you pay for.

Your family is just overflowing with all kinds of artistic talent. The little ones don’t yet realize what amazing talent is being passed on to them.

Give yourself a treat and bake yourself something special.

    1. I’ve spent my entire morning craving fresh Fruit cream Sponge cake and a cheese board! That’s a lot of dairy, I wonder if a glass of milk will cure the craving? I might just to order tubs of cream if anyone is going out!

I busied myself making vegetable soup for lunch instead.
Thank you so much for your lovely comments, Ginger. 🙂

  6. Oh gosh, I have to choose between cheese and ice cream?? I’d have to, ever so politely, ask for both. Both milk products, right? Yes, so we are getting our Vitamin D. I feel so much better. You, too? 😀

This article Susan is totally unfair to all those readers ( like myself) who share a sweet tooth and are drooling uncontrollably by the end of viewing the article. It is against the Geneva Convention to subject us to the agony of viewing all these incredible sweets and secretly longing to lick the computer screen in appreciation of your work. It is an inspiring article so much so that I will dash off shortly to the nearest bakery and indulge my cravings for such niceties. By the way, great article. 🙂
