Don’t Miss the Rainbow

“If you only chase the pot of gold, you’ll miss the beauty of the rainbow along the way.” ~ Jamie Worthington.

The Wednesday Challenge over on Weekly Prompts, the site I share with my partner GC is Potholes.

We often tell those who participate in our challenges to stretch the challenge and make it fit to suit them. On this occasion, I have done exactly that, I have stretched the challenge to the utmost with my second response to Potholes.

Some of you may have already seen one or two chalk drawings created by my daughter Sophie and her youngest, five-year-old Evie. They began with rainbows for the NHS along the cobbled border of the small street where they live. Then they progressed to a flowery garden on their driveway.

After reading my friend Peter’s comments on the flowered garden and his request for a Unicorn, Sophie created her latest rainbow drawing just for him (with a little help from Evie).

Having seen the Owl and Mouse comic strip and the pothole accidents, granddaughter Evie was taking no chances and wore the appropriate headgear when creating her drawings on the driveway.

Perhaps Evie had taken note of the previous potholes on my driveway that are now filled in!

    1. We have had some beauties here, we fill them in but they keep reappearing! Sophie’s drawings are lovely aren’t they, I just wish she’d put some on canvas too! Thank you, Ivor 🙂

    1. They certainly beat the chalk drawings I used to do and such a shame the rain washes them away. Perhaps I should buy her some road paint! Thank you, Trev 🙂

  3. OH, please tell Evie and Sophie that they have made my day! The joy, smiles, and warmth their beautiful drawings bring is fabulous and much appreciated!!! 🙂 If they could each give each other a hug…those can be hugs from me to them! 😀

It’s wonderful when the potholes are filled and we can walk safely.
We had to raise some of the bricks in our brick walkway so no one would take a stumble. 🙂

I love the wisdom of focusing on the beauty of the rainbow!🌈 I always found the rainbow more important than the gold.
    HUGS!!! 🙂

Sophie’s driveway art is fantastic!! I think some of the fun for her is the rain washing each one away giving her a clean “canvas” to begin anew. I’d love to see one that looks like Trump is being swallowed up by the pothole!! Just sayin’!

Love today’s quote Sue. I agree with you that it would be wonderful to see Sophie’s work on canvas. She would be an awesome illustrator for children’s books.

    1. As well as computing I used to teach Religious Education (RE), I re-wrote in my own words many Bible stories from both the old and new testaments, Sophie did the illustrations and I made them into books for our on the wall smartboard screens. Her illustrations brought the stories to life. I still have them all, plus her original black and white drawings.

I will suggest the one about Trump! Thank you so much, Ginger. 🙂

  5. These are beautiful! That unicorn is so very pretty. We have hardly no young children on my street so wouldn’t that be a fun surprise to see chalk drawings on my driveway!

    1. Mum Sophie is the artist, five-year-old Evie is allowed to colour in some of the blocks of colour! I agree with you they are very cheerful, unfortunately, after twenty fours hours of non-stop rain, they are now washed away! Thank you, Leslie, 🙂

Has Evie ever thought of working for the Department of Highways and Roads? Her art work is wonderful and she must be a dedicated artist. Kudos to her. 🙂
