No Sucking Up Here

Give a girl the right shoes, and she can conquer the world.” ~ Marilyn Monroe

Over on our site Weekly Prompts, GC and my Wednesday Challenge is Summer Footwear.

Gerry set this observational challenge because we were curious to know whether the Corona Virus would influence the preferred choice of summer footwear.

With tongue in cheek at some aspects, I came up with this response!

Everyone’s aware of constant hand washing and not touching our faces, but what about our feet should we be washing those too, and should we follow the cleanliness of the Japanese and leave our shoes at the door?

Not a problem for Gerry and me, we always leave our shoes at the door, and I never walk around barefoot, either in or out of the house.

Perhaps it’s just as well I don’t have a penchant for sucking toes, my own or anyone else’s, but if that’s your thing, then I suggest you stop right now!

If you are worried about walking the virus home, maybe you could try DIY and make one of these.

Back to the footwear, nothing has or will change for me. The rules may have been relaxed, but I’m not planning on going anywhere, I shall continue to stay at home for a while longer. If I take a walk in the fields, as always, my footwear will be wellington boots or trainers.

A Summer sandal is my preferred choice for hanging around the garden, and I have indoor ones for those days when house slippers can get a little warm.

To end this post, do check out this video of a school in Taiwan. I just love the Steps this school has taken to keep the children safe, look at how they wipe their feet!

  1. Well, the risk with the virus is when it gets inside our bodies. That’s why hand-washing is important, because we often inadvertently put our hands in our mouth. So, unless you’re also in the habit of putting your feet in your mouth… (I do it all the time)

    1. I did all that when I was young and carefree! I can still remember the hot pavement under my feet. I can also remember cutting my foot on a discarded can top when walking on the beach. These days I can’t bear the thought of getting my feet dirty!

I make one exception, I like the feel of the soft rug that is in front of my sofa upstairs, the rug that covers up the wine stain from a year or two back that I could never get rid of! I walk over the rug to reach the bottle of wine! ๐Ÿพ, and yes it’s still red๐Ÿท๐Ÿ˜€

      1. I do have a wooden cross hung over the door handle of the balcony doors to ward off vampires! That’s true too, it was one Sophie carved when at school and one of the girls hung it over the handle when we created the sitting room!

  2. HA on putting feet in mouth…and toe sucking! ๐Ÿ˜‰ ๐Ÿ˜€

Foot baths are heavenly…but more heavenly when someone else is doing the washing of our feet for us! Ha! ๐Ÿ˜›

I’ve never worn my shoes in houses. I leave them just inside the door.
But, I do love to go barefoot in the house (and certain places) in the summer…so Who knows what evil lurks on people’s feet?! ๐Ÿ˜ฎ (Maybe The Shadow knows! ๐Ÿ˜‰ )

Love the vid! They seem to be figuring it out. I do worry about kids getting back to school too soon. I think this forced home schooling has given parents a new appreciation for teachers, and kids a new appreciation for HAVING to go to school. ๐Ÿ™‚

    1. I’m glad you saw my post as a tongue in cheek response to the challenge.

I agree with you about home school, it’s been hard work for a lot of parents. It’s also a very worrying time for them.

Sophie’s daughter, Five-year-old Evie is going back to school next week, but daughter Louisa is not sending birthday girl Scarlett (six today) back just yet because she’s convinced that it’s too soon.

Thank you so much for your comments, Carolyn, always appreciated. ๐Ÿ™‚
