Bad Hair Day!

My hairstyle is called I tried! ” – Unknown.

This week the Wednesday Challenge over on partner GC and my site Weekly Prompts is Personal Grooming .

Gerry observes that it’s been over two months since our Barbershops and Beauty Salons temporarily closed due to the Corona Pandemic; and he has noticed how our neat hairstyles, manicured, polished nails and neatly shaped eyebrows are beginning to look a little worse for wear (Me?) How rude!

He could have a point – My overgrown hairstyle has taken on the just out of bed look, not to mention the non-highlighted roots!

For the final photos, grandson Max shared the following.

Max before 2Soon after the start of lockdown, Max chose to have his lovely golden locks shaved. His mum, Victoria, dad Simon and sister Daisy each took a turn!

Luckily, Max’s hair has grown back quite quickly.

      1. You might think differently when winter arrives, oh and before that there’s summer and the sunburnt head! 😂

  1. Oh, you still look so beautiful, SweetSue!
    Besides, just-out-of-bed, over-grown, two-tone hair is all the rage right now! 😉 😀 So, you’re in…you’re fashionable! 😉
Max looks handsome with or without hair! 🙂
    😷 😀 😷
PS…Cooper said to tell you that since dog groomers are non-essential, he now looks like a hippie…and he’s worried he will soon look like a Komondor doggie!!! 😮 😛

    1. Poor Cooper. I would have thought dog groomer could easily stay the required physical distance from dog owners.

Oh, agree, Max does look good with or without hair. I’m delighted I’m in fashion, it’s a while since I was that! Thank you so much, Carolyn 🙂

      1. Our dog groomer is back at work and Diesel is booked in for next week. I’m having to curl my hair to stop it getting in my eyes. I got bored and started to colour it and then chickened out so it is now two tone!

      2. I imagine two tone could look quite nice. I wouldn’t dare attempt own highlights, I did enough damage in my teens! I’m not intending to go anywhere anytime soon so it can wait. My hair is naturally curly but I try to blow-dry it straightish, today I used the hot brush in readiness for the new profile picture. And even that took umpteen takes until I was happy! Thank you, Julie, I hope you’re both keeping well.

      3. Remember the 1950’s? You are probably too young but bleaching was only just becoming popular and the headmistress at my Grammar School demoted me because I turned my mousy locks blonde!

      4. Oh I remember the fifties, I’m older than I look, but I was a little too young for hair bleaching I waited until the mid sixties and then my friend and I bleached my hair, oh what a mess!

  2. We’re all in the same boat on this one, Sue. I saw a video of a sheep farmer cutting his hair with those big scissors they use on sheep. He made a good job of it too. I think a lot of us will be sporting the Robinson Crusoe look when this is over.

    1. It needed cutting at the start of lockdown, and then he he hit on the idea he’d try the shaved look while there was no one around to see him. I’m not certain it was meant to be so drastic! He looked pretty good though.

You’re looking terrific Sue. My hair looks like “Who done it and ran?” I do the best I can with it, but not with much success. If I glue it in place with hair spray, it looks fine. But that just makes my scalp itch so no solution there.

Max is one handsome young man, with or without hair!!

  4. I think Max has a classic beauty in that pose. I hope he would not be offended by that. Very Greek God like! As for your new look, it’s great. Maybe ladies will decide they shouldn’t spend so much money in future on hairdressing, nails, pedicures etc. Somehow I doubt it though!

    1. Some women simply don’t care but I do. I enjoy having the nails done regularly because it makes me feel good. I hate having my hair done and I resent the time spent sitting there doing nothing but once again I I like the way I look, I feel finished, you know like a paint job! 😂

Again I say Susan that your hair looks wonderful. I do admit there is an amount of anxiety and doubt when a person (myself) tries to cut their own hair. But your hair looks great. xx

  6. During the 70’s I ironed my hair a few times, but I’ve never messed with the color–even as it seems to get lighter and lighter with silver incursions. A few times, I have had to say to a hair stylist: “You realize I’m not going to do this, right?” But I have had to cut my bangs… You look lovely, by the way, on your bad hair day…

    1. You were brave ironing your hair! I think it must be going on for forty years since I began to have my hair highlighted. I’ve cut the front, the fringe section now and again but I know I’d make an absolute mess if I attempted to cut the length of the rest of it.

Thank you so much for your kind words, Lisa 🙂

  7. Once again I’m a bit late with this Sue. I am such a lucky lady as Tim is a hairdresser (have I told you that?). This generally means I get my hair cut as and when but now I am his only ‘customer’ and I’m fairly smug about that. Tim has said that this pandemic will change hairstyle fashions and we will see a ‘back to the 70s’ look of longer styles. However that’s not for me though or your grandson! ☺️✂️ Your hair is looking great btw.

    1. Morning Selina,
No you didn’t tell me that Tim was a hairdresser! That is great, what a lucky lady!

I was due for a hair appointment just before lockdown but never got it done!
A neighbour dropped off a wrongly delivered parcel the other day and said she liked my longer hairstyle! She didn’t mention the dark roots!
Thank you for your kind comment, Selina 🙂

  8. You look great to me, Sue! Mrs Britain decided I was starting to look like Doc Brown in ‘Back to the Future’, so bullied me into letting her loose on my flowing locks. And, I have to admit, she didn’t do too badly at all!

    1. My late husband wore his locks just like Doc Brown!😂
I’m glad Mrs B made a good job of your hair, Doc Brown is not a good look!
Thank you for your kind words, Mike
