Looking for Xanadu

4th April  2020

“Colours are the smiles of nature” – Leigh Hunt

Sitting on GC and my site Weekly Prompts is our monthly Colour Challenge and for the month of April our choice is Xanadu.

Xanadu is a green-grey color that comes from a plant known as the Philodendron. The name Philodendron is derived from the Greek words philo- or “love, affection” and dendron or ‘tree’.

This is my Nan’s Farm response to our Weekly Prompts challenge.

It wasn’t easy to find – it could have been the light, or perhaps the shadow, but suddenly there it was!

Xanadu colour challege 2The leaves on the daffodils look near enough to be Xanadu!Xanadu Colour challengeIn comparison to the green at either side of my Rhododenron, I think this is a fairly decent match. What do you think?

And If the colour theme of my site was a shade darker I think that too would be Xanadu!

  1. A great match, SweetSue! Such a beautiful colour! 🙂

And I like that quote! Nature IS smiling at us these days…I’m sure wanting to brighten our lives during this horror and nature is trying to reassure us of hope, survival, joy and love. We all need to keep looking to nature to help us brave on in the months ahead!

Every day I see such beauty around me in nature, trees, flowers, and in the animals and I am so very grateful! 🙂

I am thinking about how Derrick and Jackie’s garden photos bring such joy to me, too! 🙂

    HUGS!!! and ❤
PS…3 of my houseplants are Philodendrons! They are two-toned ones…leaves are green and yellow or dark green and a light green. 🙂

  3. A great match, Sue. Something else I’ve learned now. I had no idea Xanadu was a colour. I am so pleased to see Daffodils opening as I look through my window. It fills me with optimism seeing new life after the horrors of the past few weeks.

Never knew Xanadu was a color!! I don’t have any philodendron presently, but I’ve always had 3-4 plants in the past. I have a beautiful large rhododendron outside one of my windows and it is a never ending source of beauty.

Colors are definitely the smiles of nature. Perfect quote.

Hope you are enjoying a wonderful weekend, safe and sound curled up with Woody!
