The Dream Maker

Dreams are road signs along the nighttime highway of sleep!” ~ Anon.

Laying her head upon the soft pillow, she whispered to herself,  Sleep, perchance to dream.

Before long, as she knew he would, the Dream Maker arrived. Silently he took her hand and led her to a clearing in the wood where friends and family were waiting. A wedding was about to take place, and a groom was anticipating the arrival of his bride.

Looking down upon her silver-white gown she called out in panic,  “No, no, he’s not the one; Dream Maker you’ve got it wrong!”

Woodland bride 2The woodland disappeared, and the Dream Maker softly answered, “I am sorry, tonight has not been a quiet night for dreams, I will find him for you.”

Staying in the dream was becoming difficult a  quiet mist, thin and veil-like gathered around her. Struggling to find a way through the mist, she  noticed a man walking ahead of her, she followed a few steps behind as he led her back into the sunlit woodland.

The tall grey-haired man turned around and reached out to her, “Well, you took your time!” She smiled, and in return gave him her hand; the Dream Maker had finally got it right.

I didn’t want this story to end so soon! Well done Sue. Can’t wait to get to sleep tonight…..maybe this will become my dream! Yeah, I know….in my dreams, right! Lol.

But as a young girl this would’ve been my fantasy dream.

    1. Dreams always end too soon! This was actually my last night’s dream! And in the dream I shouted out that someone had put the wrong man into my dream! 🙂

    1. The dream maker got it right in the end, and considering how busy he is at this time of year (wretched kids), I was fortunate that he found the time to rectify his mistake!

Almost bedtime and I’m looking forward to my dream making friend visiting once again, I wonder where tonight’s visit will take us. Thank you so much Peter. 🙂

  3. AW. 🙂 I’m so glad! The ending made me smile so big! 🙂
What a beautifully vivid dream! I love your word-pictures, the emotions, the drama!
It is fun to write dreams down and turn them into stories. It’s interesting to try to interpret dreams, too.
    HUGS!!! 🙂

    1. My dreams don’t usually make any sense; Jesus walked around the corner of an old house where I used to play as a child in one of my previous dreams! Thank you, Carolyn 🙂

      1. Yes, I think dreams are a way for our over-loaded minds to sort through all of the info we are bombarded with. 🙂

I had a dream last night that I had a small child, at my well-seasoned age, and I forgot he was at someone else’s house and then he walked in my house and said, “I’m home! I walked here all by myself!” He was so proud! And I was horrified, “I forgot my child!” 😮 😦
(Something I NEVER did when my kids were at home! Ha! 😀 )

      2. I have a couple of recurring dreams, one that I’m about to have a baby, but then I wake up before the birth and I get upset because it’s just a dream. The other is a dream that the baby is born and as I’m enjoying the moment someone tells me it can’t be mine because I’m too old, I wake up and get upset again! So strange.

        Thanks so much, Carolyn 🙂

      3. Oh, my!

I think your dreams about babies, and my dreams that are similar, are because we were teachers AND we care so much about children! 🙂

        You’re welcome!
        HUGS!!! 🙂
PS…in my newest post I told about a visitor I had the other day! 😮 😛
