When it’s Your Birthday

A second response to GC and my Weekly Prompts Photo Challenge Visitors.

“Today is the oldest you have been, and the youngest you will ever be. Make the most of it!” – Nicky Gumbel

Q. What do you do on your birthday?

A. If you are five years old you visit Nan’s house for a birthday lunch. You make a lot of noise as you play games with your cousins, you make a big mess on Nan’s kitchen floor and you blow out the 5 candles on your cake!

All five little ones

These are the little ones, the five youngest of my eleven grandchildren. Evie, Scarlett, Lily-Jane, Alice and William having a giggle on the kitchen sofa.

The other six grandchildren, now in their teens, were unable to join this visit. Two with heavy winter colds, one suffering from a pre-Christmas hangover, another on a school trip enjoying the Christmas markets in Belgium, one playing a rugby match and the eldest away at University.

A Good Time was had by all!

I envy you your large, beautiful family Sue. Those kids could all model! I laughed out loud that one teen was nursing a hangover and grandma put it in her blog!!

I imagine your grandkids wish you would celebrate their birthdays more than once a year! You know how to throw a party!!

What a wonderful gift of memories your grandkids are building up…..and they probably don’t even realize it yet …..but they will!

    1. Thank you Ginger. The hangover belonged to the second eldest grandson, eighteen years old, in first year of university in his home city and never normally drinks until that Christmas night out with his part-time job. And don’t we all know that so well! Thank you for your lovely comments Ginger. πŸ™‚

    1. I do enjoy it when the little ones are here at the same time, they bring so much joy.
The teens we’re once exactly the same when they got together at my place, but as they get older and each of them doing so many different things it’s becoming more and more difficult to get them all in the same place at the same time. Thank you so much Carolyn. πŸ™‚
