“I believe alien life is quite common in the universe, although intelligent life is less so. Some say it has yet to appear on planet Earth.” ~ Stephen Hawking
This is a second response to the midweek word prompt from GC and my site Weekly Prompts and also the second part of the fictional Inhabitants of 402.
Previously in Part One – It’s Christmas Day and whilst taking photos, George and Sally spy the new neighbours.
Sally’s eyes widened, “An alien! How do you know it’s an alien?”
With a glance over his shoulder George whispered, “ My dad said the new neighbours were from another planet and everything’s gone haywire since they arrived, and that’s not all, the food they cook smells really strong!”
“Why are we whispering?” asked Sally
Tugging at her arm George pulled her back around the corner. “Because we don’t want them to know that we know”
“What do we know?” asked Sally.
“That they’re aliens of course, what do you think I mean?”
Sally had to agree that both the dog and the woman looked a little odd. “Okay, but how did they get here?”
George grinned and took her hand “Ah I can show you, I know where they’ve hidden their spaceship!”
Feeling very pleased with himself, George led a surprised Sally across the street and into a play area near his building, His grin broadened as he proudly pointed to one of the trees.
“Look, can you see the branches of that tree, the one in the middle?”
Sally stared at the tree in surprise, “You think they came here on bikes?”
George shook his head, “Of course not, silly, the spaceship is camouflaged. It’s masquerading as a bike, but it’s really a cloaked spaceship. Anyway, what human would hang a bike in a tree? It’s like my dad says, these aliens don’t know how we do things around here!”
To be continued…
