Cheeky Cow

Q. How do you know when it’s cold outside? A. That’s easy, when you milk a brown cow you get chocolate ice cream!” ~ anon.

The midweek word prompt on Weekly Prompts, the site I share with my partner GC is Humour, but if you’re on GC’s side of the pond your word is Humor!

Today the cows do the talking!

If you speak French you will already know what the French insult says. A polite translation might be ‘She is full of her own importance!’

Calling a woman ‘A Cow’ is a mainly British insult, it means she is a bitch. Speaking of someone asย A Right Cow is the Yorkshire way of insulting her!

Editorial: No cows were harmed during the creation of this post and all bovine comments were cows’ own! ๐Ÿ˜‚

  1. It’s been a rainy, dismal day here in Geelong, and your article has put a big smile on my dial, as I’m finishing off my post for the Midweek Word Prompt. I’m afraid my poem is not as nearly as funny, if funny at all, but I do have a warped sense of humour….

    1. Thank you so much Ivor. Iโ€™m pleased it made you smile. Itโ€™s a rainy miserable day here too, itโ€™s hard to believe itโ€™s June. ๐Ÿ™‚

      1. It’s winter here, it’s supposed to be raining. Humorous that it should raining, your summer, and my winter, at same time โ˜”๐Ÿ˜‰๐Ÿ˜Š

      2. Yes it is funny, we donโ€™t expect to have the same weather. The weatherโ€™s spoiled my planned day out with Sophie, so weโ€™re settling for lunch out instead and somewhere dry! ๐Ÿ™‚

      1. I would have been ostracised then. I’m afraid I’ve never been able to understand why anyone would pay money to watch a bunch of blokes running up and down a field chasing a ball!

      2. My husband wasnโ€™t a fan either, so when my son was young and growing up in a house full of girls I thought I ought to man him up (the boy) and get him interested in football by making him sit with me during the World Cup. It didnโ€™t help either of us!

      3. I usually watch a little bit of the Olympics, especially when someone from Yorkshire is involved. The Triathlon Brownlea brothers are virtually neighbours so I always tune into them. I surprised myself and actually watched most of it when we hosted it here.

This is hysterical Sue. I just love these photos of these bovine beauties, but I am most impressed by their conversation with each other! ๐Ÿค—๐Ÿค— It’s a special talent to create comments for photos. Well done. Even the Editorial had me laughing. Thanks for starting my day on such a fun note!

Hope you and Sophie have a terrific luncheon date, despite the gloomy weather l

    1. Thank you for your lovely comments Ginger. I am so pleased you enjoyed the post.
No let up in the weather here so we have opted for lunch at home instead! ๐Ÿ™‚

    1. Thank you so much Maureen. They are always hanging over the garden wall and when Gerry said he wanted to use the word Humour I knew exactly what I would do with it. I’m glad you enjoyed it. ๐Ÿ™‚

  3. Ahhh seeing the cows always make me happy, Sue, but these bovines are funny, & crafty cows too! I love the speech bubbles..arenโ€™t they characters! I often wonder what the eleven boys I see regularly are thinking. Most probably wondering why I donโ€™t have food for them, especially when they take the time to amble or occasionally thunder over! ๐Ÿ˜‚

    1. I love having the cows here, it makes the day so much more interesting. The section of the house where my kitchen sink area is doesnโ€™t have much garden and since the extension and the removal of bushes and a tree I look straight out over the side fields, I can be at the sink, look up and the cows are staring at me from over the wall. I often wonder what they are thinking and regularly imagine them with thought bubbles attached! ๐Ÿ˜‚ Thank you Debbie ๐Ÿ™‚

      1. Oh Sue, Iโ€™d be in my absolute element if I had cows looking through my window, what fun! Theyโ€™re so curious, arenโ€™t they, especially if they hear new sounds or people talking. I love it when they run over, theyโ€™re so big & clumsy looking, then just want to lick you or nibble your clothing..I mean, anything might be food! ๐Ÿ˜‚ I canโ€™t remember if I told you, Iโ€™ve always got a mouth organ in my pocket when Iโ€™m out walking, & sometimes they come over if I play it. The woman in the music shop mustโ€™ve thought I was a crank, when I told her what I wanted it for, but laughed her head off when I went back to show her it had worked! The farmer just rolls his eyes, & says of course, he only keeps them for my entertainment, but luckily, he doesnโ€™t mind! ๐Ÿ˜‚
