Woody breaks a leg

The reason a dog has so many friends is that he wags his tail instead of his tongue.” ~ Anonymous

A third response to the photo challenge White from GC and my site Weekly Prompts.

Woody breaks his legLast week my family next door went on a short camping trip to Whitby and Woody our family beagle went with them.

On the second day of the East coast break, son-in-law Simon climbed into his VW Touareg to nip to the local shops.

Woody, who was lying asleep outside the tent and fastened with his long lead to a tent pole, suddenly darted out and ended up under the Touareg.

We can only imagine that Woody thought everyone was driving off without him!

Woody is seen above recovering from his ordeal, hiswhite bandage over a white cast clearly visible.  Needless to say, the family returned home earlier than originally intended; however, settling back at home and toeing the line has not gone strictly to plan.

Woody chews his castYesterday evening Woody decided he could scratch the itch more easily if the cast was partially removed!

And here he is with a repaired cast and freshly bandaged leg. We love our brave little dog in fact we’d even say he was awesome!

  1. Poor Woody. Hope he heals soon enough and doesn’t be naughty to be forces to wear the collar of shame or then again, you could turn him into a satellite dish 😀 😀

      1. I had to keep Morrie inactive for a month when he had a broken leg as a puppy. Impossible! I had to remove all the furniture from a room and put up two iron gates to create an out side place for him to use as a potty outside the room. Even then he managed to get into unbelievable mischief.

  2. Murphy's Law

Woody sweetheart, you really won’t like wearing the lampshade around your head, so please don’t be messing with your bandaged leg. Ouch…..that must’ve really hurt. You are such a brave boy!!

Oh! Sue, what a nightmare that must’ve been for all of you, particularly Woody and Simon. What a freak accident….but I guess all accidents are “freaks”. The expression on Woody’s face in the last photo, with his newly wrapped up and taped up leg says, “I’m so sad and pathetic, please ply me with treats to keep me happy, I need more than the usual amount of spoiling.”

Sue, if you use Woody again for a prompt challenge, I sure hope it’s for something happier than this! Lol. My Murphy and I send hugs and kisses and belly rubs and hope Woody recovers quickly and completely.

You might need to sit down with a glass of wine, perhaps WHITE wine, and cuddle with Woody. 🤗

    1. Woody is a very lucky little dog, he actually ran underneath the car and was knocked over rather than run over. Thank you Ginger 🙂

  3. Awww, poor Woody, what a shame, Sue! Everyone must’ve felt awful, after what happened, but thank goodness he’ll be ok. His little face on your photos tells so many stories, each one is heart melting! I hope he leaves his dressing alone this time..fingers (or paws) crossed for a speedy recovery! Sending big doggy cuddles for Woody. 🐶

  4. WE didn’t accept an invitation for our fourteen year old terrier to have an operation on his knee when he damaged a ligament. He would never have understood he had to restrict his movement for weeks afterwards. He would still want to jump on a chair to see out of the window at the cheeky foxes and chase up and down the garden fence to stop them coming through. He’s lost a lot of weight and only remembers to hop every now and again. Funny thing is, he still sits down and scratches himself with the bad leg so it can’t be hurting much! He’s now on a special diet as he has kidney trouble but short walks and sleep seem to give him a good life.He even puts up with wearing a nappy at night as he wets the bed in his sleep!

    1. He sounds to be a lovely brave dog Julie. Woody won’t have the cast on for much longer. Part of his bone has broken off meaning it’s not broken in two, so there’s nothing to fasten together in the way we normally mend broken bones. All the best for your little dog. 🙂
