In the Red

A red rose is not selfish because it wants to be a red rose. It would be horribly selfish if it wanted all the other flowers in the garden to be both red and roses.” ~ Oscar Wilde.

This weekend the photo challenge on Weekly Prompts, the site I share with GC, is RED.

At the start of January, we announced a colour challenge for the first Saturday of each month. This is my own response to our challenge.

Snapchat at Christmas

On Christmas Day as I sipped my red wine, Snapchat gave me plump rosy red cheeks, wide open eyes, a festive red hat to sit atop my green paper crown and a funny black dot on the end of my nose! Courtesy of daughter Sophie!

I’m often asked, “Would you like a drink?”  Other times it’s “What are you having?

Woody prefers red

Woody is thinking he’d like a glass of red please!”

Red CarsThe other day whilst having breakfast with my son in an upstairs cafe, we began to discuss pictures for the walls of his new house. The conversation turned to ‘Urban Views’. I suggested he be original and create his own artwork. “Take random photographs, you might surprise yourself with the result.”  As an example I took a photo of the car park. We were pleasantly surprised at how the previously unnoticed red cars stood out.RED Apples

Post Christmas Lunch

Soon after New Year, two of my girls popped over with their children for a spot of lunch. I made a red raspberry trifle and we gave the little ones leftover red Christmas crackers.

The bouquet of red roses is gorgeous… could they not be? And what a perfect reminder that Valentine’s Day is almost here!! Love the photo of you on Christmas. And Woody looks so cute and not so sure about that glass of wine.

Great photos for your prompt, but call me weird, I liked the red cars in the parking lot best!!

    1. You’re not weird Ginger. I like that one the best too. The car park (parking lot) looked very ordinary until we looked at the photo and saw how the red cars jumped out at us. Thanks again for your comments.

    1. Sophie and I once passed the time in a long traffic queue by singing away on Snapchat, great fun and we ended up with a funny video. Thank you for your kind comments Lois. 🙂

    1. I don’t have Snapchat on my own phone. but Sophie has it and she and her children have great fun with it. Red wine? Far too much of it in my house!

Love the photos Susan. 🙂 Did Woody eventually sip his wine or did someone offer to help clear the glass for him? Thanks for sharing the photos. xx

  3. Those apples look a delight, how I wish…… 😥
Being Aries Reds my colour; I wonder how long that vase of roses would have lasted, there doesn’t appear to be any water there for them to drink

    1. The vase of roses wasn’t one of my pics it was a download. I have plenty red flower pictures of my own but I think maybe I just wanted roses. I never noticed the lack of water!

When I walked around those gardens I longed to reach up and pinch one of those red apples they really did look gorgeous. 🙂
