“We are born at a given moment, in a given place and, like vintage years of wine, we have the qualities of the year and of the season of which we are born. Astrology does not lay claim to anything more.” ~ Carl Jung
Horoscopes is the Midweek Word-Prompt over on GC’s and my Weekly Prompts site. We asked our readers to tell us whether they take horoscopes seriously, or with a pinch of the proverbial salt. GC also added a monthly video to our sidebar, take a peek Here.
Many celestial moons ago, checking my horoscope was a daily occurrence. I believed every word, and I would bend or stretch the predictions to suit my purpose, but that was when I was young and impressionable. These days, if I read a prediction, I’d likely take it with a good sprinkling from the salt-cellar!
I was born in January, the month that includes star signs Capricorn and Aquarius, and for the purpose of this post, I checked out some of my January traits.
First, I took a look at the January video on Weekly Prompts, and surprisingly, given that the video covers the month as opposed to one star sign, most of the statements were accurate. Though I have to say I disagreed with the headline on statement six, and I know Gerry agrees with me.
Next, I explored a couple of online sites and I found them most enlightening . Apparently, as an Aquarian, connecting with my partner on the mental plane is more important than actually being with them every day. “You’d rather be sending I miss you e-mails from a spiritual pilgrimage than having the same “how was your day, dear?” conversation after a predictable day.” I found that statement thought-provoking, especially when you consider that my late husband’s profession took him away from home a lot and I never minded.
This next snippet was also attention grabbing “Since you need lots of freedom, you may be drawn to a long-distance relationship.” I think someone’s been spying on me!
“Aquarius is the sign of groups, friendship, a network of people who share your interests.” Well, I found a blogging community didn’t I?
How fascinating, maybe I might not be quite so generous with the salt next time
However, I think we all should reach for the salt pot when reading the ones below! 😂

I’ve never been a follower of them, they seem too generalised. I believe Hitler used Astrologers during his life, thankfully they got it wrong.

You are right about Hitler I read that too. I think horoscopes are more of a woman thing really, especially younger ones. Thanks Trev 🙂

OMG, I’m a Libra!! Lol. I used to read them regularly in the local newspaper when I was younger…. decades younger. And even though I knew they weren’t to be believed, I fudged the ones I liked to fit me and easily discarded the ones I didn’t like. So much for being a believer!
I never knew that about Hitler. Well, he was nuts, wasn’t he?!

As with all things astrological, we make it fit if it suits us, and generalisation is the name of the game. I should know, I used to read palms! (a great way to hold young ladies hands and get close without being slapped)

Such a fun read, Sue. Apparently I’m an ADD Assassin which IRL doesn’t fit because I can’t even kill bugs. Totally fits my rogues though (WoW) 😏

Well partner our long distance relationship is working out rather well. We share good news, bad news, indifferent news and are there for one another through thick and thin. We work together well on our mutual blog and share philosophies of life. All in all we have a really good, supportive relationship. 🙂
