The Wednesday Word-Prompt on Weekly Prompts, the site I share with GC is Optimism.
To quote my partner Gerry,“The contagious nature of optimism lifts the spirits, excites the soul and has a long-lasting, positive effect on one’s mind and body.”
I completely agree with his statement, in fact, when we first began Weekly Prompts, I was full of enthusiasm and optimism, but Gerry was ready to lay down and die, and all due to the abrupt demise of WP Daily prompts! Fortunately, my optimism rubbed off on him, and here we are, six months later and it’s our first anniversary of Weekly Prompts! (I have anniversaries for everything!)
This week, however, has been one of those weeks where I’ve not been at my best – under the weather, under par and under-optimistic.
It’s rare I feel this way, but when I do, everyone close to me is aware. My smile disappears; my enthusiasm and zest for life fade and this week I even asked, “What is the point of me?” (Gerry, I apologise). Happily, my low state of mind was simply temporary, and it very soon disappeared.
=========
This morning, the weather was poor, heavy rain, thick cloud and foggy patches. I looked out of the kitchen window and watched the cows grazing, quite unperturbed by the falling rain. Joining them were a number of ducks and pheasants. Feeling my old pecker returning, I picked up my phone, and from the doorway, I zoomed in and took a couple of photos.
Feeling optimistic I uploaded one of the pictures to the BBC Television Weather Watchers site, and what do you know, it was shown on the lunchtime news, the second of mine in as many weeks!
Editorial Note: Keeping your pecker up – An English expression meaning Keep your chin up, remain cheerful.

I’m so glad you’re feeling better Mum! Although it was only a brief loss of your usual zest and optimism, you worried me nonetheless!! Your smile is catching, I’m glad it’s back. There are times when I need it! 😊 xxx

Glad you’re back to smiling and feeling optimistic, Sue. Life can be very tough at times, but hopefully, the bad times are far outweighed by the good times.

Oh, thank you Trev. Sometimes I miss my old life. The trigger is usually something very minor and thankfully it doesn’t happen very often.

I didn’t know! I hope you feel better real soon! It’s is ironic that you brought out the pecker. I used it as a joke in a caption challenge the last 2 weeks. 😛😂

We use pecker a lot when one of us is feeling a bit down. Keep your pecker up! I’ll look back at yours.
I feel better already Jason, I’m very fortunate that feeling down is short lived and for most of the time I’m cheerful. Thank you very much. 🙂

Thank you Lois, I get such a thrill when I see one of my pictures on TV.
It was only when I’d begun writing that I realised Weekly Prompts was six months old, it doesn’t seem that long since we began.
Apart from going out for his walks, if it’s raining Woody refuses to leave his bed. 😀

Glad you clarified the pecker bit, I do believe that our Yankee cousins put an entirely different meaning to the word.
Catching up on my mail only 24 days behind now L'(
