“There is a hidden message in every waterfall. It says, if you are flexible, falling will not hurt you! “ ~ Mehmet Murat ildan

I hadn’t realised until today that one of our regular contributors to our photo challenges on our site also hosts her own challenges.

Today is the first my of responses to the challenges that Bren hosts over at Ryan Photography – Waterfall

The water falling at tropical world

This first picture was taken when visiting the Tropical World Centre at Roundhay Park Leeds in Yorkshire. The falling water fascinated me and prompted a short 20 second video, however, I inadvertently clicked Slow Motion, but I hope you’ll agree it has produced a lovely if unexpected effect!

Next is a picture I may have shown here before – the waters of the petrifying well at Mother shipton’s cave, Knaresborough, North Yorkshire. These waters literally turn these items into stone.

The well 3

Followed here by a video of just a few seconds long, mainly because when you see falling water you really do need to have the full picture and listen to it!

  1. Great photographs, Sue. I shall have to get involved in these little challenges. I’m having computer issues these past few days, but as soon as I get up and running again, I shall have a proper look.

    1. Thank you very much Trev. Oh, yes you should, starting with Gerry and me… obviously! I hope you get your computer problems fixed, so frustrating for you. 😢

I love listening to the water, very soothing. What a great idea. That’s also cool how the water is slowly calcifying things. I can just imagine archaelogists in the far future coming across them and speculating if we worshipped them so we took care to carve the stone, lol
