The midweek word-prompt over on our other site Weekly Prompts is Frustrating and was written by GC.
So what frustrates Sue W?
When it comes to learning something new and things get tricky, frustration often takes over. Generally, though, especially when it’s the computer, I’m dogged in my quest and tenaciously refuse to be beaten.
Then there are those trivial, annoying occurrences such as when the washing line snapped for the second time and I needed help to fix up a new one.
One of those little GU ceiling lightbulbs on the staircase intermittently flashes on and off, the electrician assured me he’d fixed it!
Definitely get frustrated when someone doesn’t pick up when I call, especially when they’ve forgotten the phone’s on silent! Dare I admit here that I too am often guilty of this oversight!
Right now, the football is on TV, The World Cup, two whole weeks of my routine being frustratingly disrupted and inconvenienced. The News App on my phone flashes up football news, “That’s not news, where’s the important stuff? Oh for goodness sake!” I swipe it away, “Stop showing me this, I do not want to know!”
The other evening my youngest, my twenty-something son, became frustrated with the sounds my phone was emitting as it synced when I was messaging on my iPad. Not wishing to break off from my messaging activity I passed the phone across and said: “Here if it’s annoying you, switch it off!”
The following day it was my turn to become frustrated when my phone no longer pinged and I couldn’t figure out why. Turns out the twenty-something son had switched off the notifications but forgot to mention it!
Thankfully, frustration is a temporary state and not known to make me angry. Other people’s frustration, however, often makes me smile, especially when triviality winds them up. I think perhaps, I am just a little bit wicked!
