Santa not up for the job this day

Re-blogged this from . It might be best to set your expectations a little low when visiting this Santa Claus, the normally friendly front, the patina of joviality, was simply not there. He turned towards Evie, my not quite three year old granddaughter and waited for her to speak first and made no effort whatsoever to put this small child at ease. — Sue W.

“December is full of the beauty of Light and love we can bring into our life. You  can choose to be stressed or you can choose to let the small stuff go and be peaceful this Holiday season. It really is a choice you make.” Eileen Anglin

Even Santa Claus can have a bad day. The forlorn look of boredom on this little girl’s face (Evie) tells even the most causal passerby that this Santa has not only lost the spirit of the season but also his supposed cheery rapport with the little girl. Her mother Sophie and grandmother Susan reported that the man in the familiar red and white suit totally did not embellish the spirit of the season. Tis the season to be jolly and not sad. This must have been one of Santa’s subordinate clauses at work. Better luck next time Santa. – gc

“They often say, what’s the point of astrology if you can’t change your destiny? Well it’s true you can’t change your destiny, but it still helps knowing about gravity!” ~ Kedar Joshi

This morning I read my online horoscope and was pleasantly surprised to read the following words. “You are a powerhouse of ideas and creativity now. Plus you have the network over which to transmit them. Utilise both now.”  So here I am doing just that!

Apparently, I am ruled by the planet of unpredictability,  I am a visionary of the Zodiac, an inventor, a genius and a humanitarian.

Whats more,  today is going to be magical with playful and romantically charged lunar vibes! Wow, I am waiting on tenterhooks for a romantic gesture to come my way! Though that might depend on whether he gets around to reading this anytime this week!

And on that note, I leave you with  a couple of cynical paragraphs from the wonderful Grumpy Old Men book.

One of the most annoying lines in aged films and sitcoms is where some old twit says… astrologer, not astronomer, there is a difference, as though people in real life ever got them mixed up. Yes, it must be pretty hard to tell apart a man in a white coat holding a telescope and a degree in physics from some pillock in a turban with a fake Ruby in it!

Astronomers and astrologers are completely different. One is a person who maps the movement of the stars via science, mathematics and telescopes. The other is a person who maps the movement of the stars via join-the-dots pictures of Bulls and centaurs and fish and then makes up a load of old rubbish about it.

24 Sleeps to go

No matter how old you are, An empty Christmas wrapping paper tube is still a fun thing to bonk someone on the head with!

It’s the first day of Advent and apart from the obvious connotation, for most children, just like my eldest granddaughter has shown here, the start of the Christmas season heralds the count down to the big day. So, let the preparations begin!

In our house the preparations have already begun. The cake was stirred, wished upon and baked some time ago. The roast potatoes have been peeled, par boiled, seasoned, floured and frozen, a task less for Christmas morn.

Other tasks have been delegated to family members so that on the day no one has too much to do. The son for instance makes the most delicious cranberry sauce.

My first Christmas card arrived this morning from a friend, a favourite Irish comedian, and this weekend my son and I will decorate the tree and begin to unwrap other little Christmas ornaments, ready to take their usual spot on the fireplace.

The youngest daughter, the very talented Sophie, as many of you know, features on here a lot, has been very busy preparing for Christmas in her own unique way.

She began by making an unusual Christmas wreath for herself and a gift for me, but it’s snowballed into yet another sparkly creative venture, with orders coming in thick and fast. Some of these light up!
